Sitting is SO EXCITING!!!

Jane is enjoy sitting so much.  She sat in her pram for the first time yesterday and loves it!  She used to always lie in her car chair which clips onto the pram.

And of course playing is just so much more fun...

My little Rosebud

Rosebud is 6 months old!

She is having so much fun now that she's starting to sit on her own.  She loves the new position of the play gym...

My brave girl reaching out for a toy (and she managed to keep her balance)...

At five and a half months Rosebud was ready to start solids.  She's been introduced to rice cereal, butternut, sweet potato, apple and banana and she welcomes all food with enthusiasm :)  Today her gums were  a bit itchy so when Andy and I were having some fruit for our morning snack I put some in her no-choke-mesh-snack holder and she loved sucking the juice out and feeling the soothing cold fruit on her gums.  Whoever invented these mesh food holders is a genius! I used to use one all the time for Andy as well until he could eat a chunk of food without choking.  This one is extra nice cause it comes with a lid that covers the mesh bag.

Happy half a year birthday Rosebud! :)

The Homescool Camp 2010 (Rosebud's First Holiday)

Every year our homeschool group has a camp for 3 days and this year Rosebud got to join in the fun for the first time.

It was so incredibly hot!  When we arrived there it was 36.5 degrees and the entire three days we were covered in sweat.  At one stage I had rosebud lying in her carry cot playing with a cool washcloth while the others were out swimming in the river.  But despite the heat we all had a marvelous time!

Rosebud and I standing on the same spot as the next photo when we came camping at the same place in 2007 when Andy was a year and 4 months old...

Enjoying the great excitement of the outdoors while watching Daddy put up the tent...

Rosebud is sitting unsupported for longer everyday now.  I took this pic about 2 weeks ago when she was sitting for a few seconds at a time but this afternoon she sat for close to a minute :)

I sewed a Taggie (a little blanky with ribbon tags on) for Jane.  So I let her discover it for herself.

And then Daddy put it on as a hat to see if she would get it off by herself (which she did)...

What an adventure!

Summer is here...

Phew it's been SO INCREDIBLY HOT lately!  We open all the windows and doors up early morning for the coolish air to come in but by mid morning we close everything up and put the fan on.  Late afternoon we venture outside when the cooler evening air starts to appear.  Jane just LOVES being outside and watching her big brother play.  Soon she'll be playing with him :) She thinks he's the funniest brother and her hero!

Bumbo Chair Time

While Andy is busy with his morning homeschooling, Jane looks on from her green chair.  She even joins us in circle time and looks at the pictures in the books when we read...

One of her favourite things to do is to look out the window at the wind blowing the lavender.  It mesmerizes her and keeps her spell bound for quite a spell so Mommy can get a few things done...

Andy and Jane

Jane loves sitting by the door and watching Andy play outside, in his sandpit or kicking a ball or playing catches or soccer with Mommy...

At the crack of dawn first thing every morning Andy joins us in our bedroom for good morning hugs and kisses and cuddles...

Spring is here so we get to spend more time outside.  Jane loves being outside!  There are still many cold days but at least we know the warm weather is on it's way...

My Baby Wrap (my favourite thing)

The kids and I attend a Fun With Mum playgroup and when we were there last week I saw two moms with 7 week old babies in this gorgeous Baby Wrap.  I instantly fell in love with the comfortable look and the beautiful, deep hug your baby gets when you wear her.  So I just HAD TO have one.  I got the info from one of the moms and contacted Emma, who makes them (one of the sweetest Mommies I've ever met).  Here is her website.

She lives close to us so I picked my wrap up the other day and have worn it ever since.  I put it on in the morning when we wake up and take it off in the evening when we go to bed.  When Jane is awake I carry her facing forwards so she can see everything that's going on (and the mischief her brother gets up to) and when it's nap time I 'hug' her facing towards me but my hands are free to see to Andy and the housework.  She is so content and only starts getting niggly when it's time to feed.

Before this I used a great sling that I used when Andy was little as well but I found after more than 2 hours of wearing it the straps and buckles started working on my back.  With this material wrap all I feel is soft fabric and my baby's little arms hugging me.

My treasures

Oh how I love my two precious blessings. My heart overflows!

Rosebud's first dress!

95% of Jane's clothes are all from Andy when he was a baby so you can imagine the amount of blues and greens.  She has one pink baby grow that I like to dress her in when we go out cause it limits the comments on 'is it a boy'. :)  So when I was having some 'me time' (which means shopping alone without the kids - more often grocery shopping) I just HAD TO celebrate having a beautiful daughter and bought her a frilly dress and 2 pairs of pink tights to go with it.  I just love how gorgeous she looks in it.  She just melts my heart (even when she is wearing blue). :)

The dress...

The tights...

My little Rosebud

7 weeks old...

Some of my blog readers have told me they can't post comments so I went through the settings and changed it from 'registered users only' to 'anyone' so there should be no problems with posting comments now.

When Jane is older she will look back on this blog and treasure each comment.

Thank you!
